Last week, I had a girly night with some of my favorite people in the world. We celebrated a birthday in the group and watched the first episode of Dowton Abbey, Season 2 (direct from the UK, one month before it airs in the US!). As we were visiting with each other, one of the ladies, who was one of my first pie class students, shared the story of her pie baking triumph at Thanksgiving. Her husband even created a special contraption within their vehicle for safe transport of her beautiful pies.
Then she told us that the other night, she told her husband that she was hungry for pie, but not just any pie. “No, I want YOUR pie,” her husband agreed, at almost the same time she said, “I want one of MY pies.”
“I’m where I wanted to be,” she continued. Her family loves pie and she wanted to be able to just make a pie when they wanted one. She also confessed to being a bit of a pie snob now when walking past the frozen desserts section in the grocery store.
And that’s why I do what I do–baking pies and teaching others to bake them so they may share pie with their friends and families. I’m also where I wanted to be!
